COVID-19 has caused a long-lasting impact on our societal norms, from how we travel to how we live, work and play. Pre-COVID, companies such as Google, Facebook, etc, were playing with the idea of creating a space in which employees would enjoy working, find creatively stimulating, and feel a sense of home comforts and community. Once society started to regain more freedom after one to two years of working from home, more and more companies were taking inspiration from these philosophies to encourage employees back into a working environment.
This particular project is based in an old textile mill in the heart of east London. Split into offices over 30 years ago, these offices are now in need of refurbishment to appeal to the new clientele that the area currently attracts. By reconfiguring the spatial layout the aim was to accommodate the new flexible working requirements. From individual phone booths, hot-seating, casual/formal meeting rooms and cosy breakout areas.
